Andrew Mooney is a dynamic Audio Visual (AV) technician, sound designer, and musician with a diverse range of creative expertise. With a background that includes working at Science Gallery Dublin as both an AV technician in their theater and an installation technician for innovative exhibitions, Andrew has honed his skills at the intersection of technology and art.
Currently, Andrew is the lead sound designer for DEEP VR, a groundbreaking breath-based virtual reality project, as well as for The Shape of Us, a captivating VR experience where he employs ambisonic recording and traditional sound design techniques to craft immersive audio worlds.
Beyond his work in AV and sound design, Andrew is an active musician and composer. He leads AMOON, a mostly instrumental band delivering rhythmic and atmospheric soundscapes, and performs with Secret Sonic Cinémathèque, a group dedicated to writing and performing contemporary scores for classic silent films. Whether it’s live performances, hosting gigs, or scoring for film, TV, and games, Andrew's creative endeavors bring unique energy and innovation to every project he undertakes.
Based in the scenic wilds of West Wicklow, Andrew brings passion, technical expertise, and artistic flair to all aspects of his work, from exhibitions and events to experimental cinema and live sound.
